The clothes dryer became a lot less effective this week after the heating element went out, and when combined with being a probably 15 year old Kenmore thing that came with house and having a few other issues and noises that had been subtly suggesting for a few months that it might be closer to the end of it’s life, we elected to forego any episodes of this old dryer and proceed straight to Lowe’s for a replacement. That meant the Pajero made its debut for carrying large objects last night.
Appliance shopping might be second only t o furniture shopping for making you feel like a grown up. Those are things my parents did. It doesn’t feel like I’m supposed to do them, but too many dollars later (thanks, tariffs!) the ITA97 house is back to doing the laundry things.
The local recycling center is a block away from my work building, so I stopped by the appliance drop off section on the way to work this morning. No eulogy was given, but it was shoved out the back of the Pajero in a satisfying manner.

Bruh: that's what Craigslist is for. But sounds like you've got it sorted.

I thought about that, but I’ve sold (working) used appliances before on the list ‘o Craig and it didn't feel worth dealing with that for whatever I could get for a mediocre non-working one.

Why does NM have USA on the plate?

Nice nice. On the long list of things a Pajero can do that my car can’t, this is one.

Even with having a large estate car like Sandy. When the washing machine gave up the ghost, it was easier to go to a store choose one. Have them deliver it free, install it and take the old one away for recycling, free. So I missed out on your fun.

I wouldn’t be surprised that some people think New Mexico is actually a part of Mexico.

As Lancier pointed out, more people than you might suspect don’t know New Mexico is a state. Many a New Mexican has been asked if they need a passport to visit the USA, and the like. NM’s longest serving US Senator (and at the time sitting Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee) introduced a “New Mexico is a state day” resolution on the floor in the early 90s in response to the US Treasury S ecretary offering foreign aide to NM in public remarks.

Mm that nice boxy shape
I’ve been cramming my X3 full of boxes and random things for like 5 days straight moving from one apartment to another after work. In hindsight I should’ve just hired movers but at least the SUV purchase has been thoroughly justified. Will be very glad to get it over with tomorrow.

That’s certainly easier, but no free delivery here. It would’ve been $75usd to have it delivered and the old one hauled to the tip (I think I've used that term correctly) .

Bloody hell.
Here the government give incentives to companies to take your old appliance for recycling, so you don’t pay, the government does.

I always buy my appliances from CL. I just bought a washer/dryer combo for $400. Last washer was $100, and it ran great for a year, until we washed a feather pillow and it exploded and jammed up the works with feathers.
I was just giving you grief because #trollingoppo

I’ve done those piecemeal moves before. At this point I’ ve migrated into either the hire movers, or the alternative, just rent the giant U-haul and get it done in one trip camp.
